Service Description
Best for Enthusiasts and dedicated learners seeking a deeper understanding of how place, culture, and tradition shape global wine styles. Exploring the Great Wine Regions is a structured wine class designed to deepen understanding of the world’s most influential wine regions and how they express themselves through style, structure, and flavor. The focus is on regional context and how climate, geography, culture, and winemaking tradition combine to create a distinct sense of place. Led by Suzanne Bonham, participants explore benchmark regions across both the Old and New Worlds, including France, Italy, California, and Australia. Guided comparative tasting practice is used to examine representative styles such as Bordeaux blends, Barolo, Rioja, Napa Cabernet, and Margaret River Chardonnay, highlighting what makes each region recognizable. The class emphasizes analytical tasting within a regional framework. Participants gain practical insight into geography, key grape varieties, and signature winemaking approaches, while learning to recognize hallmarks of origin that distinguish one region from another. This experience is designed to expand global wine perspective and strengthen the ability to connect structure and flavor to place. Wine is explored as an expression of origin, tradition, and technique rather than as a standalone product. By the end of the session, participants will have a clearer understanding of regional character and a more nuanced appreciation of how terroir and tradition shape the wines of the world. Format In person instructor led wine education with guided comparative tasting Duration 4 hours
