Service Description

Best for Enthusiasts and dedicated learners seeking analytical tasting skills and a deeper understanding of global wine styles. Old World vs. New World is a structured comparative wine class designed to explore how place, tradition, and winemaking philosophy influence wine character. The focus is on understanding contrast by examining not just how wines differ, but why those differences exist. Led by Suzanne Bonham, the session compares classic Old World expressions from regions such as France, Italy, and Spain with modern New World interpretations from areas including California, Australia, and South America. Guided tasting practice is used to examine how climate, geography, and cultural approach shape structure, balance, ripeness, and overall style. Analytical tasting and facilitated discussion are central to the experience. Participants refine their palate, strengthen their sense of regional identity, and develop clearer language to describe what they taste and how stylistic choices influence preference. This mini session is designed for those ready to engage more critically with wine and explore the broader global context that continues to shape modern winemaking. By the end of the session, participants will not only recognize stylistic differences, but understand them with greater clarity and confidence. Format In person instructor led wine education with comparative tasting practice Duration 3.5 hours
