Service Description

Best for Students ready for continued structured learning who want to explore regions, styles, and wine structure with greater depth and clarity. Wine 201 is a structured, multi day wine course designed to deepen understanding through guided tasting practice, thoughtful comparison, and intentional progression. The course builds on foundational wine knowledge and expands your ability to recognize regional character, stylistic choices, and structural balance. Across four sessions, participants explore how place, grape variety, and winemaking decisions shape wine style. Guided tasting practice and hands on exercises are used to compare Old World and New World expressions, examine wines through regional context, and strengthen the ability to interpret structure with confidence. The course is educational in focus while remaining warm, supportive, and engaging. Learning is paced to allow time for observation, discussion, and reflection, helping concepts settle naturally rather than feeling rushed. Led by Suzanne Bonham, Wine 201 is designed to build a clearer tasting voice, stronger regional awareness, and a more confident understanding of how wine style and structure work together. By the end of the course, participants are better equipped to evaluate wines, select bottles with intention, and communicate preferences with clarity. Course Outline Day 1 Regional Foundations Exploration of influential Old World and New World regions with attention to how climate, soil, and tradition shape flavor, structure, and style. Guided tasting practice introduces benchmark regional expressions. Day 2 Winemaking and Style Examination of how vineyard choices and cellar techniques influence wine character. Focused tasting practice compares the effects of oak, stainless steel, fermentation methods, and aging decisions. Day 3 Comparative Tasting and Analysis Refinement of tasting skills through side by side tasting flights highlighting varietal differences, regional cues, and stylistic contrasts. Emphasis is placed on clear description and confident evaluation. Day 4 Structure, Balance, and Application Deeper study of acidity, tannin, sweetness, alcohol, and body, and how these elements interact to create balance.
